The oldest extant roofed building on the Island, the Old Grammar School (or Yn Chenn Scoill Ghrammeyoys) was in educational use from the 1500s through to 1930.
Part of it is set up as a Victorian schoolroom, and there are some interesting permanent exhibitions about the history of the site. Although small, it's another interesting piece of Castletown's historical jigsaw and, taken together with the other attractions in the town, can be part of a fascinating day out.
Run by Manx National Heritage, it also serves as a visitor information centre and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
